FoodTech Barcelona will again present the latest solutions and innovations for the food industry and will show all aspects of food production, from the ingredient to the manufacturing process, through the packaging or its arrival at the point of sale. From 8 to 11 May 2018 and again coinciding with Hispack, the International Packaging Exhibition, Fira de Barcelona will organize this national reference event that will boost new sectors and activities related to sustainability, innovation and the Internet of The Things applied to the food industry.
FoodTech Barcelona is the new name of a hall that has a solid and reputed trajectory since its birth, in 1984 as BTA (Barcelona Food Technologies) and which seeks to revalidate its status as a benchmark for the food equipment and technology industry. The synergies with the Alimentaria Salon and the rest of the Alimentaria Exhibitions fairs make FoodTech Barcelona a unique event for all food industry operators
“FoodTech Barcelona is the trade show par excellence of the food and machinery industry for the Spanish market”, says its president Llucià Casellas, also general director of Roser Construcciones Metálicas, S.A. The exhibition brings together the most important companies in the sector and has the support of the main sectoral associations, technological centers and Spanish institutions, some of them represented in its Organizing Committee such as Gea Iberia, Multivac Packaging Systems España, Intecal, Innovac, Hiperbaric, Milla Masanas, Brentag Química, Aecoc, Irta and Amec, among other entities.

Tecno Càrnica will bring together a diverse range of products ranging from the equipment and equipment to the special products, to the presentation of the final product, to the industrial processes and to the hygiene and safety systems.
The Tecno Alimentaria area is the great showcase of the latest launches in technological solutions for the improvement of food manufacturing processes taking into account aspects such as traceability, quality control systems, safety, environmental protection or industrial refrigeration .
For its part, TecnoIngredientes shows the latest in additives, aromas, enriching and intermediate food products. “In 2018 this sector will be reinforced by the expected increase in the number of participating companies, animated by the good progress of a sector that moves more than 400 million euros per year,” says Susana Gibert, director of the show.

Innovation, business and technology transfer
Nearly 600 brands will be represented at FoodTech Barcelona to showcase their latest models and launches. More than 38,000 professionals are expected to attend and around 1,000 working meetings between exhibitors and visitors are scheduled. The organization works with the expectation that 25% of the exhibiting companies and 10% of the visiting professionals will be of international origin.
Another of FoodTech Barcelona’s priorities will be to encourage working meetings between researchers and companies to promote technology transfer and promote research in the sector. In this sense, more than 40% of the visitors of the event occupy R & D & I responsibilities in their respective companies.
For the second edition, Food Tech will recognize the innovation and the entrepreneurial character among the companies of the sector with Los Premios Innova and Emprende. Both awards seek to encourage entrepreneurship among professionals in the sector, identifying projects and companies that serve as a stimulus and contribute to the competitiveness of food technology.
For its part, the Innovation Meeting Point will host workshops aimed at promoting more sustainable production systems, promoting efficient consumption of resources, promoting technology transfer and unveiling the main trends in food processing, handling and manufacturing.
