Water reuse: current situation of the pig meat sector on the use of water and the installation and functioning of effluent treatment systems

Main objectives and conclusions of the project:
The study incorporates a global diagnosis of the uses and treatments of water in the different industrial activities of the pork meat sector (slaughterhouses, cutting plants and processing companies) and analyzes its effluents from the treatment of wastewater treatment. Possibilities of reusing water – in some cases directly and in others by means of tertiary treatments – are indicated, depending on the normative parameters. The reduction of costs can be very significant in most companies due to their high consumption of water and in turn would add a environmental benefit, mainly to the basins of the territory.
